In cosmological beliefs and ancient mythology, there is a tale of a colossal sacred fish named Anondha, one of the revered creatures of the Himmapan forest.
It is said that its body stretches for thousands of yojanas, dwelling in the deepest parts of the ocean. In traditional belief, people once imagined that the entire world rests upon its back, and whenever it moves or flicks its tail, the earth trembles—giving rise to earthquakes (much like the legend of the giant catfish in Japanese folklore).
Another tale recounts that Anondha was once chosen by all fish to be their ruler. But after tasting the flesh of a smaller fish, desire awakened within it. Slowly, it began to prey upon its own followers. When the truth was revealed, the remaining fish devised a plan, tricking Anondha into biting its own tail. Its blood spilled into the sea, and its life came to an end amidst the very creatures it once ruled.
From this legend emerges Anondha — a fragrance that draws its wearer into the depths of the ocean.
It opens with the brightness of mandarin and the green sharpness of shiso leaf, like a breeze brushing across the ocean’s surface. Clary sage and a saline accord reflect the shimmering waves meeting the shore.
As the scent descends, jasmine appears like a luminous underwater bloom, while seaweed evokes the dense vegetation of a submerged forest. Incense and myrrh rise like sacred smoke from ancient temples long sunken beneath the sea.
At its deepest, the fragrance settles into the ocean floor — dense and pressurized. Choya Nakh reveals a raw smokiness, while labdanum and ambergris add a weight reminiscent of the sea’s immense pressure. Oakmoss spreads a dark green dampness, like the shadowed bed of the ocean itself.
