Oh a legend long foretold
By the sages wise and old
From the mythical advent
Came at last divine intent

The dragon throne’s new heir arisen
To rule under mandate of Heaven
A trial he must at first complete
To overcome celestial beast
III.
As angry clouds began to gather
And the power of light did wither
Rumbling roars of thunder cried
As the dragon claimed the sky
IV.
Mighty tremors shook the land
As the swollen Chang Jiang sang
Of the Heavens it beseeched
A charm this divine beast to breach
V.
On a treasure long foretold
In the Chinese lore of old
A gift more precious than gold
The black wood’s legend now behold
VI.
A charm of wood the Emperor made
And the dragon’s power began to fade
The stirring Heavens now awoke
And to the laden clouds they spoke
VII.
And as the wood released its scent
The mighty dragon did relent
Enchanted by the black wood’s palm
The dragon was at once becalmed
VIII.
From the trees, the oil distilled
Forever to serve the Emperor’s will
With such power deep imbued
Heavens pleased, dragon subdued
